The Lion King Mufasa Trailer released by Disney

Disney has once again captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with the release of the trailer for their upcoming film, "Mufasa: The Lion King". This highly anticipated movie promises to be a timeless classic that will transport viewers to the majestic African savanna and immerse them in a world filled with adventure, friendship, and courage.

The trailer showcases stunning visuals, breathtaking landscapes, and iconic characters such as Simba, Nala, Scar, and of course, Mufasa. As we hear James Earl Jones' powerful voice narrating over the scenes, we are reminded of the beloved original animated film that touched our hearts decades ago.

Announced this morning is an all-star roster of talent bringing new and fan-favorite characters to life — plus, celebrated award-winning songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing the film’s songs produced by Mark Mancina and Miranda, with additional music and performances by Lebo M.

“Elton John. Tim Rice. Hans Zimmer. Lebo M. Mark Mancina. Beyoncé, Labrinth, Ilya Salmanzadeh. Beau Black, Ford Riley, the incredible music team on ‘The Lion Guard,’ and so many musical contributors over the years. The Lion King has an incredible musical legacy with music from some of the greatest songwriters around, and I’m humbled and proud to be a part of it. It’s been a joy working alongside Barry Jenkins to bring Mufasa’s story to life, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience this film in theaters,” Miranda said.

The "If Beale Street Could Talk" director said he has an "intimate relationship" with the 1994 animated classic and felt there was "something kind of interesting to chase about what my aesthetic paired with this sort of entity ... would look like."

Jenkins said the film is about discovering more about Mufasa, a character we've known for 30 years, and "what made him that way" into the kingly figure he was.

"The journey of this film is kind of understanding how someone can build a family out of these very disparate parts," he said, adding that it's also about "how people who may be alone can find strength by coming together."
