Inter Milan beat Atlético Madrid 1-0

Inter Milan secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Atlético Madrid in a thrilling Champions League clash. The match was highly anticipated, with both teams boasting strong lineups and eager to secure three points. Inter Milan started the game on the front foot, pressing high and creating several scoring opportunities. Their persistence paid off in the 75th minute when Lautaro Martinez found the back of the net with a clinical finish. Atlético Madrid tried to mount a comeback, but Inter Milan's defense held firm, denying their opponents any clear-cut chances. The victory was well-deserved for Inter Milan, who displayed great teamwork and determination throughout the match. This win puts them in a strong position in their group and boosts their confidence going forward in the competition

At the San Siro, Serie A league leaders Inter Milan narrowly beat LaLiga outfit Atletico Madrid, with Marko Arnautovic’s second-half goal the only strike of the game. Elsewhere, PSV Eindhoven held Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw, Luuk de Jong levelling from the penalty spot after Donyell Malen scored for the visitors against his former club.

Substitute Marko Arnautovic scored the only goal of a game his introduction changed as Inter Milan beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.

After a sluggish first half, Inter were much improved and Arnautovic had two great chances soon after coming on at the break, but on both occasions the Austrian shot over from close range.

The controversial equaliser opened the game up, with chances at both ends, a flick by Dortmund's Marius Wolf forcing a sharp save from Walter Benitez in the PSV goal.

With 15 minutes to go, Bakayoko danced through the Dortmund defence but failed to get any purchase on his shot -- summing up the night for PSV.

PSV midfielder Joey Veerman said: "I think that we had the second half completely under control and in the first half we had big chances."

Morata had been nursing a knee injury that kept him from playing on Saturday in the 5-0 rout of Las Palmas in the Spanish league. Paulista was dealing with abdominal problems and also didn’t play in the match at Metropolitano Stadium.

Still unavailable for coach Diego Simeone because of injuries were midfielder Thomas Lemar and defender César Azpilicueta.

Simeone and Inter coach Simone Inzaghi were teammates at Lazio when the Italian club won the 1999 UEFA Super Cup.

“It will be a great pleasure to see Diego Simeone again tomorrow as an opponent,” Inzaghi said on Monday. “He was a fantastic teammate, and I always knew he would make a great coach. We have always stayed in touch.”
