The release of the new trailer for the highly anticipated film, "A Quiet Place," has left audiences buzzing with excitement. Directed by John Krasinski, this horror-thriller promises to be a gripping and unique cinematic experience.
The trailer opens with a family living in complete silence, hinting at the film's central premise: survival in a world where sound attracts deadly creatures. The use of silence as a storytelling device immediately grabs the viewer's attention and sets the tone for what is to come. The tension builds as we witness the family navigating their daily lives without making any noise, communicating through sign language and taking every precaution to avoid detection.
The trailer depicts a normal, loud New York City day with cabs honking and people talking. Suddenly, they're hit by meteors that lead to the invasion of monsters that feed on noise.
This movie is a prequel to the first and second parts of "A Quiet Place," detailing how and why the world needed to go silent.
The movie stars Lupita Nyong’o as someone who is trying to navigate through New York City as silently as possible after the monsters take over.
The film features star including Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou and Denis O'Hare. According to Entertainment Weekly, Nyong'o plays a character named Sam who is on “a day trip to New York City when the monsters arrive.” As chaos ensues, she is “thrown together with a man named Eric” (played by Quinn) with whom she decides to pair up in order to survive.
Another character is the quiet third lead of the movie: Sam brings her cat Frodo with her to New York, and the feline remains her close companion on this journey. Sarnoski, Nyong'o points out, is clearly a Lord of the Rings fan. "I thought it was really quite apt because he is that companion," she remarks of her animal costar.
Frodo has already changed Nyong'o's life, having single-handedly turned her into a cat person. "Our relationship had a very steep arc," she recalls. "I was afraid of cats when I started this movie. By the end of the movie, I was crying leaving that cat. Now I am definitely a cat mom. I have my cat's fur all over me, and I think of it as a symbol of affection, which I never imagined I would."
The trailer opens by briefly reminding us of what came before: the Abbott family on Day 471, before tragedy struck, followed by the survivors on Day 477, including a brief glimpse of Murphy's Emmett. Then the clock winds back to Day 1 as Sam walks down the streets of Manhattan holding a pretty white cat. Naturally, all hell breaks loose as the creatures crash to Earth and promptly begin devouring any readily available humans. (They're probably just cranky and ravenous after that interstellar journey.) There's very little dialogue, and not much else happens, so we'll have to see whether Sarnoski has successfully fleshed out a spinoff backstory for this fascinating fictional world.
