The Preseason Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum Exhibition is an event that brings together sports enthusiasts from all walks of life. This exhibition, held annually, showcases the best of American football in a unique and historic setting. The Coliseum, with its grandeur and rich history, provides the perfect backdrop for this clash of titans.
The exhibition serves as a precursor to the upcoming football season, allowing teams to test their mettle before the real battles begin. It is a chance for players to shake off any rust accumulated during the offseason and for coaches to fine-tune their strategies. Fans eagerly await this event as it offers a glimpse into what lies ahead for their favorite teams.
The non-points event for the NASCAR Cup Series was rescheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. ET (FS1, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), one day earlier than its original start time at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The inaugural exhibition race for the NASCAR Mexico Series, initially scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET Sunday, will be held Saturday night after The Clash at 10:30 p.m. ET.
“Due to the threat of unprecedented severe weather on Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Mexico Series race events for the Clash have been moved to Saturday night. Thanks to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Los Angeles Public Safety for their partnership and support to make the schedule adjustment for tonight’s event to ensure a safe experience for fans, competitors, and staff. We understand weather conditions may worsen as the day progresses, so we encourage fans to make decisions in the best interest of safety. We appreciate our fans, partners, and everyone associated with this event on this unprecedented event.”
Due to the schedule change, the Busch Light Clash race weekend will be condensed as well. The Heat Races and Las Chance Qualifier race have been scrapped and the top 22 positions in the starting grid will now be set by lap times in Saturday's practice session.
NASCAR only planned to run heat races Saturday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, with the main event scheduled for Sunday. But with heavy rains and flooding expected, NASCAR eliminated the heats, set the field of 23 by practice speeds, and started the race just 30 minutes after qualifying.
A planned “halftime” performance by Machine Gun Kelly was canceled.
Hamlin, the first driver to hint on social media that the race might be moved up a day, applauded the decision, calling it a "W" for NASCAR.
The NASCAR Mexico Series race was scheduled to follow for a doubleheader. Spectators on Saturday were already being admitted for free and seating was general admission.
NASCAR said it would contact Sunday ticket holders and prepaid parking will be fully refunded.
