CM Punk Out of WWE WrestleMania 40 After Injury Suffered at Royal Rumble

The world of professional wrestling was left in shock when news broke that the legendary CM Punk would be unable to compete at WWE WrestleMania 40 due to an injury sustained during the Royal Rumble. This unfortunate turn of events has not only disappointed millions of fans worldwide but also raised questions about the future of one of the industry's most iconic figures.

CM Punk, known for his charismatic persona and unparalleled in-ring skills, has been a cornerstone of WWE for years. His absence from WrestleMania 40 will undoubtedly leave a void that will be hard to fill. The injury suffered at the Royal Rumble, which remains undisclosed, has forced him out of action indefinitely.

"In the course of the Rumble, I tore my right tricep," Punk admitted. He thought about taping it to work on that injury, but WrestleMania is not in the cards for him. He said that maybe main eventing WrestleMania isn't in the cards for him after all.

Fans cheered for CM Punk as he continued on and said this is just a bump in the road. He's overcome adversity countless times in the past, and he doesn't focus on people who tell him that he can't. His promo, although the message was terrible that he will miss Mania, was very motivational.

Punk had immediately put himself in position for a feud with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Even though Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble match for the second year in a row, there was an expectation that Punk would challenge Rollins for his title in one of the main events of WrestleMania 40, which will be held on April 6-7.

"I feel a little bit unlikely," said a teary-eyed Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks. "... My goal and my dream ever since I was a little kid has been to main event WrestleMania, but maybe it's never going to happen. ... It's a bump in the road ... I've overcome adversity many times in the past."

Punk suffered a torn left triceps in September 2022 while competing in AEW and was sidelined nine months following a lengthy rehabilitation.

He was involved in an unscripted backstage altercation at that same 2022 event, and also suffered a broken foot in June 2022.

Punk departed AEW following a second unscripted backstage altercation -- one that took place last August in London. He's a former WWE champion who also competed in the UFC.
