Inter Miami faced off against FC Dallas in a highly anticipated match that ended with a 1-0 victory for Inter Miami. The game was filled with excitement, intensity, and skillful play from both teams.

Instead, it was FC Dallas star Jesus Ferreira, who scored three minutes into preseason match, leading to a 1-0 loss for Messi and Inter Miami at Cotton Bowl Stadium on Monday night.
Inter Miami is scoreless following two preseason matches in El Salvador and Dallas, and have a week before their next game in their worldwide tour.
Messi and Inter Miami stars Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets and newcomer Julian Gressel, an MLS Cup champion with Columbus Crew last season, played the first 64 minutes of the match before being substituted out.
FC Dallas, which played at the Cotton Bowl until 2009, held off a flurry of shots early in the second half shots on goal behind substitute keeper Antonio Carrera.
"To get to play against Lionel Messi is an unbelievable opportunity," FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said prior to the match. "For most people, it's a never. Most markets never get to bring him ... you have the greatest probably of all time, with maybe the exception of Pele, and you get to have him twice in your market -- once we hosted at our home, and then we get to share with a different part of the community in Dallas."
The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner had scored scored twice in Inter Miami's comeback win over FC Dallas on Aug. 6 at Toyota Stadium in their epic Leagues Cup showdown. Miami went on to win the game in a shootout en route to the Leagues Cup title.
It was far from the thriller Messi and Inter Miami played against FC Dallas last August, which saw Inter Miami comeback from deficits of 3-1 and 4-2 with Messi scoring the equalizer in the 85th minute. Inter Miami advanced past FC Dallas with a 5-3 edge on penalty kicks during the Leagues Cup tournament match.
Instead, it was a second preseason game for Messi and Inter Miami, which has a jam-packed schedule before and during the 2024 MLS season.
