In a thrilling showdown between two football powerhouses, the Pittsburgh Steelers emerged victorious over the Seattle Seahawks with a final score of 30-23 in Week 17 of the NFL season. This game showcased the true essence of football, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination.
From the opening kickoff, it was evident that this game would be fiercely contested. The Steelers' offense, led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, showcased their prowess by executing precise passes and strategic plays. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster's outstanding performance cannot be overlooked either; his exceptional catches and explosive runs contributed significantly to their victory.
The Steelers went 80 yards on 14 plays – 11 of them runs – on their second possession, scoring on an 18-yard run by Warren on which he started left, cut back across the line, picked up a sealing block by Dan Moore and went untouched into the end zone for a 7-0 lead.
Seattle (8-8) answered, however, early in the second quarter, going 75 yards to score on a 13-yard run by Kenneth Walker around left end to tie the score at 7-7.
Seattle (8-8) had its two-game win streak snapped and while the Seahawks weren't eliminated from the postseason, they will need a victory and a lot of help in Week 18.
Geno Smith threw for 290 yards and a 12-yard TD to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first half. Kenneth Walker III added 53 yards rushing and a 13-yard TD in the first half, but the Seahawks settled for three field goals in the second half and Smith committed one big turnover.
The defense let down in a big spot against an offense that has struggled most of the season. The offense wasn't bad, but there weren't a lot of game-changing explosive plays, either. The Steelers also crushed Seattle in time of possession.
The Seahawks tried to rally late. A drive deep into Steelers territory didn't result in a touchdown, and Seattle settled for a field goal just before the two-minute warning. The Seahawks tried an onside kick trailing 27-20, but Pittsburgh recovered. A reception to Pickens for a first down and a Harris run for another first down ended the game.
The Steelers still need a lot to go right to make the playoffs. But they're alive, and it looked like there was no chance of that happening a couple of weeks ago.
