Maryland vs. Auburn 31-13

The Maryland Terrapins' thrilling victory over the Auburn Tigers in the Music City Bowl was a testament to their resilience and determination. From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, both teams displayed exceptional skill and tenacity, making it a game for the ages.

Maryland's offense came out firing on all cylinders, led by their star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. His precision passing and ability to extend plays with his legs kept Auburn's defense on their toes throughout the game. The Terrapins' running backs also played a crucial role, consistently finding holes in Auburn's defensive line and gaining valuable yardage.

On the game’s opening drive, a screen pass to Roman Hemby gained 61 yards to set up an Edwards rushing score — his seventh of the season — less than two minutes in. The next time the Terps took the field, Edwards found freshman tight end Preston Howard in the end zone with 5:58 left in the period.

A Nashville native, Brown relieved Payton Thorne and Holden Geriner for Auburn's final two possessions, completing 7 of 9 attempts for a team-high 132 passing yards. "Hank has incredible poise," Freeze said. "I see it every day when he's running the scout team." Fairweather's first catch broke John Samuel Shenker's 2021 record of 33 receptions. He added four more to finish his first season on the Plains with 38 catches, four of which came on Auburn's 14-play, 80-yard touchdown drive late in the first half.

Maryland outplayed its opponent in all three phases, also impressing on special teams and defense. After Auburn (6-7) scored its first touchdown late in the second quarter, Jack Howes responded with a 49-yard field goal. The Terps also scooped up a pair of fumbled second-half punt returns.

Maryland intercepted Auburn twice, with defensive back Glendon Miller returning his for a touchdown early in the third quarter. As he strutted into the end zone with the Tigers watching in dismay, Miller lifted a celebratory finger in the air as his teammates exploded with excitement behind.

Auburn last played over a month ago in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25, losing in heartbreaking fashion in the last seconds of the game as Alabama converted a fourth-and-31 win the game.
