Highway 59 intersection made safer with new traffic lights, signs

A history of pedestrians fatalities along a highway that runs through a southern Manitoba community has prompted new infrastructure changes that aim to make the area safer. The intersection of Highway 59 North and Bison Drive-Anishinabe Way now has traffic lights, the province announced in a news release Friday. “We welcome this new controlled intersection, which will improve safety on Highway 59 North through our community,” said chief Gord Bluesky of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.
