Michigan football vs. Rutgers 31-7

No. 2 Michigan will have head coach Jim Harbaugh back on the sideline for its Big Ten opener against Rutgers on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines have won their first three games this season, scoring at least 30 points in all those contests. They are getting set for their fourth straight home game before traveling to Nebraska next week. Rutgers is going on the road for the first time after beating Virginia Tech in Week 3.

Kickoff is set for noon ET at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. The latest Michigan vs. Rutgers odds via the SportsLine consensus list the Wolverines as 24-point favorites, with the over/under at 43.5. Before entering any Rutgers vs. Michigan picks, you'll want to see the college football predictions from the model at SportsLine.

Michigan ran out the final seven minutes of the clock with a flurry of runs to drown out the clock. The Wolverines moved to 4-0 in Harbaugh's return from suspension after outscoring Rutgers 17-0 in the second half.

Blake Corum added two touchdowns to his season total and Mike Sainristil put the finishing touch on the game with a pick-six. Freshman wide receiver Semaj Morgan (West Bloomfield) scored the first touchdown of his career that gave Michigan the lead, and the Wolverines never looked back.

Rutgers lost on Saturday to Michigan, but this has been the best start to the season of Schiano’s return. Even with Saturday’s performance being lackluster, this is still an improved team.

Rutgers is 3-1 with two Power Five wins in their first four games. They didn’t get blown out by Michigan but played decently well. This team is pointed up for sure.

The Scarlet Knights have been known for playing the Wolverines tough, as last year, they led Michigan at halftime 17-14. A disastrous third quarter doomed them, though, as the Wolverines scored 28 points to put the game away. This year, they are looking for different results as they try and improve on their 3-0 record to start the year.

The defense has looked good for the Scarlet Knights as they have given up just 30 combined points in their wins against Northwestern, Temple and Virginia Tech.

It gets much tougher on Saturday, though, as the Wolverines will easily be the best offense they have faced all season.
