The European champions take on the South American giant killers in front of a sell-out 75,000 crowd at Stadium Australia in Sydney.
England manger Sarina Wiegman insists her players are ready despite a stuttering performance against Nigeria in the dramatic 4-2 penalty-shootout victory on Monday.
Australia is well-known for its deadly animals and creepy crawlies, but is it prepared to hear the roar of England’s Lionesses? The women’s football team will play Columbia this weekend in the Women’s World Cup quarter-final, streamed on ITV.
To mark the occasion, the broadcaster has revealed a series of billboards that confidently lay bare the players' skill.
The campaign was developed in-house by creatives Tom Hall and Bailey & Joaquin. EssenceMediacom handled media planning and buying.
“We’re ready, Colombia are a good team. It’s the quarter-final of the World Cup so everyone is really excited. I’ve played against a few of their players in the Spanish league. Their number 9 plays for Levante, she’s very powerful and quick and doesn’t stop running. For us it’s about focusing on our possession game and trying to play some good football.”
They have been roaring their way through the World Cup.
So England's Lionesses were certainly due a break, as they took a day off on Thursday before returning to training the following day ahead of their showdown quarter-final clash with Colombia on Saturday.
Led by stars including Chloe Kelly, who shared a sweet snap showing her reunion with her boyfriend Scott on the day of relaxation, the group headed to their coach in the beaming Australia sun, before doing their final prep for the big match.
Throwing her support behind the team, which also includes Lucy Bronze, Rachel Daly, Katie Zelem, Millie Bright, Alex Greenwood, Georgia Stanway and Jess Carter, was Jill Scott who retired last year, as she was seen hitting a bar in Bondi Beach.
The reigning I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here champion braced herself for the heat in a T-shirt and shorts in a break from her pundit work at the tournament.
