India showed their batting might to beat West Indies by 200 runs in the series decider in Tarouba. They have now won 13 consecutive ODI series against West Indies, stretching all the way back to 2006.
Playing without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli once again, India rode on the half-centuries from Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya to post a mammoth 351 for 5.
After that, West Indies were never in the game. Mukesh Kumar wrecked their chase with three early wickets. And when Shardul Thakur also picked up two in his successive overs, it left them tottering at 50 for 6. A 59-run stand for the ninth wicket, between Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie, only delayed the inevitable.
Unfortunately, he was denied the third wicket of the last ball in the 35th over. This was after the chinaman delivered a peach of a delivery to Jayden Seales and the on-field umpire Michael Gough gave the batter out for a catch.
Seales then challenged the decision and ultra edge showed the batter did not get any nick on the bat. Then the third umpire looked for LBW only to find out the impact was umpire calls, and since Gough had not given out the for LBW, Kuldeep was denied a wicket.
Seales, after the lucky break, could not survive longer as he got out three balls later. Shadrdul Thakur picked his wicket as India outclassed West Indies by a whopping 200 runs in the third ODI to win the series 2-1
Early on, Kishan was troubled by Kyle Mayers. Bowling around the wicket with the new ball, Mayers beat his outside edge twice in three overs. Kishan responded by dancing down the track and hitting him for back-to-back fours.
Gill got to face just one ball in the first two overs and got off the mark in the third, with a pulled four off Jayden Seales. In the fast bowler's next over, he picked up two more boundaries, the first via a short-arm jab and the second via a punch between cover and point.
The chase was always out of question and Mukesh Kumar’s three-wicket burst with some quality seam bowling in the first Powerplay dashed West Indies’ hopes as they were shot out for 151 in only 35.3 overs. Gudakesh Motie (39 not out) and Alzarri Joseph (26) delayed the inevitable with a 55-run stand for the ninth wicket
