Otego, N.Y.: New York’s 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act has interim goals of a grid 70% powered by renewables in 2030 and a carbon-free grid in 2040. Widespread criticism of the intermittent buildout, storage and transmission projections to achieve these goals has been ignored. New York Independent System Operator, the company responsible for maintaining a reliable grid, recently released its annual Power Trends report, the wake-up call Albany needs.
