James Martin TV chef diagnosis with cancer

James Martin recently agreed "lessons have been learned" and apologised "for any offence or upset caused" after he responded "emotionally" to an incident during the filming of ITV's James Martin's Saturday Morning.

During the production of James Martin's Saturday Morning in 2018, the star became angry after a drain was blocked at his home, where the programme was being filmed.

In a joint statement earlier this week, the 51-year-old and production company Blue Marlin - which took responsibility for the damage - said they "agree lessons have been learned".

The presenter said he underwent surgery for the cancer in 2018 and has since had regular treatment as it has "returned on several occasions".

Revealing the horrible incident, James wrote on Twitter: "I was burgled at night by a team of masked men, who entered my house while my partner Louise was at home alone and I was away working. I was devastated that she had to go through it alone."

Dermot O'Leary and Carol Vorderman have thrown their support behind James Martin after he issued an apology following a series of bullying allegations.

The celebrity chef took to social media on Thursday night and issued a statement after being accused of 'bullying and intimidating behaviour' by crew members and also revealed he had been battling cancer. The 51-year-old is at the centre of a scandal after leaked audio recordings heard him swear 41 times in a furious rant after his home was damaged during filming for James Martin's Saturday Morning in 2018.

Martin has been "accused of berating people" and "reducing them to tears in front of other colleagues", according to US publication Deadline, while filming the Spanish Adventure programme in May.

An ITV spokesman previously said "people and their welfare" was their "highest priority".

"Following a complaint we received in May from members of the Blue Marlin production team about the filming of James Martin's Spanish Adventure, we contacted Blue Marlin to discuss these concerns and to understand how the issues raised were being addressed and what actions were being taken.

"As a result, we made a number of recommendations for Blue Marlin to implement as soon as possible, sharing best practice of some of our own relevant procedures around staff welfare and reiterating our Supplier Code of Conduct."
