Rudy Farias: Quanell X shares details of Fariass disappearance

The 25-year-old man in Texas who was found alive eight years after he was reported missing had been abused and drugged by his mother for years, according to a community activist who spoke with him on Wednesday.

Rudy Farias was found outside of a Houston church last week after his mother reported him missing in 2015. Farias was 17 when his mom said he never returned home from a walk with his dogs.

On Wednesday, Quanell X spoke to the media about Rudy Farias who went missing when he was 18 on March 6, 2015, but was found on June 29 by authorities after a Good Samaritan found him unresponsive outside a church and called 911. He says he was present when authorities were questioning the man.

After Farias and his mother met with the Houston Police Department and activist Quanell X, new alleged details began to emerge and more people, including neighbors and family members, began to speak out.

Quanell alleged that after Farias’ mother was removed, he began telling them about his whereabouts in the past eight years. The activist said Farias was “hidden in plain sight,” based on the information they heard. He claims Farias said that his mother would take him to work at her security job and force him to do the work she was supposed to do. He was allegedly allowed to visit with a few neighbors under a different name.

Farias was reported missing in March 2015. At the time, he was 17 years old and authorities reported he went missing while walking his two dogs in northeast Houston. The two dogs were later found, but Rudy was gone.

Family members of Farias were at the hotel where Quanell spoke to the media and said they were shocked and hurt about what they'd heard.

"She hid from her family. That was wrong and awful," one family member said. "Now what she did to him, that girl needs to go to jail."

"I'm going to say I'm very worried about Rudy, very worried," Farias' aunt Pauline Sanchez Rodriguez said.

Sylvia Lopez, another one of Farias' aunts, said she hasn't seen him since the day he went missing and over the years, she's even traveled out of state with Santana to help look for him.
