Janet Grissom, a former chief of staff and campaign manager to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), died over the weekend, the senator announced Monday. "Over the weekend, our nation lost an outstanding public servant and I lost a dear friend of nearly 40 years. Janet Gardner Mullins Grissom was a proud daughter of Louisville, a trailblazing government leader and my very first Chief of Staff here in the Senate," McConnell said on the Senate floor Monday. Grissom, who died at the age of 73, was just 29 years old when she first came to Washington, McConnell said.
