Saudi Arabia Deposits $1 Billion in Yemen’s Central Bank ...Yemen

Republican Yemen Saudi Arabia announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Aden-based Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) to deposit $1 billion in Yemen’s Central Bank. According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the deposit came under the directive of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It is not clear whether the $1 billion was part of an existing $3 billion support package pledged last May by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for Yemen’s economy. The agency stated that the deposit aims at contributing to promoting economic stability and implementing the economic reform program by Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
