As Europe heads into winter and sanctions remain in place on Russian gas and oil after its invasion of Ukraine, the de facto leader of the European Union (EU), Germany, has accelerated talks with the world’s top liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, Qatar, to substitute for lost Russian gas supplies.
