Kris Kolluri, the bistate Gateway Development Commission’s inaugural CEO charged with building a Hudson rail tunnel, has our sympathies. A skilled, smart and well-motivated fellow (despite his backdoor hiring via Jersey politics), Kolluri is stuck with an impossible task that we’ve been pointing out for a half-dozen years: delivering Amtrak’s $35 billion boondoggle. Actually, the price tag rose to $37 billion last week. New York and New Jersey combined will pay half.
