Several regional leaders including MNM founder Kamal Haasan, DMK chief M K Stalin and CPI's Binoy Viswam have opposed Amit Shah's remarks that Hindi should be made a common national language. In a video message, Haasan today said that "no Shah, Sultan or Samrat" can renege on the promise of "unity in diversity". Interestingly, BJP's own B S Yediyurappa also joined the chorus and said the importance of Kannada can't be compromised.
