New Yorkers are hitting the polls Tuesday, June 22, 2021, to vote in the New York City mayoral primary elections. Democrats and Republicans looking to replace Mayor Bill de Blasio reach the final stretch of a highly-contested mayoral race as 8 democrats and 2 republicans vie for the position. This is the first year ranked-choice voting will be featured in the primaries, allowing voters to name their top 5 preferred candidates in order. The final votes are set to be cast Tuesday in New York's party primaries, where mayors, prosecutors, judges and city and county legislators will be on the ballot, along with other municipal offices.
