The members of Five Finger Death Punch, a hard rock and heavy metal band, recently revealed that they found themselves in a situation strikingly similar to Swift’s battle over her master recordings.
“She could have gone into a costly lawsuit, or she could have felt sorry for herself," Bathory told Billboard. "[Instead] she just sprung into action and did what she had to do.”
“That’s the way of life, and we will do what is necessary and legally can be done,” the guitarist added. Inspired by her approach, Five Finger Death Punch is following suit.

“She got them to think a little bit about what their rights were,” said the band’s manager Allen Kovac, CEO of 10th Street Entertainment. “They want to be able to determine how these songs are promoted, marketed, licensed, visualized.”
Kovac claims Kwatinetz signed the group to “the worst deal I’ve ever seen,” one that allegedly gave the label 50% of their touring, publishing and merchandising revenues, while falsely promising the band shared ownership in a joint venture.
The band’s decision to revisit its early catalog coincides with its 20th anniversary, though Bathory insists the timing is “a coincidence.”
“I don’t want to say the obvious — the lemons are being made into lemonade — but basically that’s what happened,” he said.
