On the chairs inside the hall, each seat had a printed set of lyrics to Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young," a line from which Burrell had put beneath her high school yearbook photo — "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints. The sinners are much more fun."
Food Network attendees included Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Marc Forgione and Geoffrey Zakarian. Those who spoke included Claxton and Burrell's manager Scott Feldman.
"I was there to keep things on track,” Feldman said (per the New York Times). “And Anne was there to do what she did.”

"This is what joy looks like and Anne threaded that needle every single day," wrote Zakarian next to a photo of a huge group of Chopped stars. "It’s such a sad time, and my thoughts are all over the place, but everyone in this picture was and will ever be, enamored with her kindness and how she always loved her craft and her chef family with every bit of her soul. She lived by the phrase that most rarely do, Carpe Diem. God bless your delightful soul, my good friend."
