Oklahoma is working on building some momentum for the 2026 recruiting class, and the Sooners picked up a big-time piece to the puzzle on Friday.
The commitment comes in the form of Bowe Bentley, a 4-star quarterback out of Texas’s Celina High School. Bentley was down to LSU and Oklahoma prior to his commitment to Brent Venables and the Sooners.

— Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) June 20, 2025Listed at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Bentley is a 4-star recruit and is rated as the 14th overall player out of Texas for the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He’s also the 10th QB in the country for the cycle and a top-100 prospect.
During the 2024 season, Bentley led Celina to a Texas 4A D-I state title. He has also played soccer and lacrosse in high school as a true multi-sport athlete.
In an interesting twist, Bentley’s evaluation compiled by 247 Sports lists new Oklahoma QB John Mateer as a player comp for the young player. Bentley has been a dual-threat contributor, rushing for over 900 yards with 16 touchdowns on the ground and another 47 touchdowns through the passing game.
Bentley joins the 2026 recruiting class as the 10th hard commitment for Oklahoma, and he instantly becomes the highest-ranked player in that group. He is the first top-100 commit in the cycle for the Sooners in a group that ranks 38th nationally per the team composite.
