Bhadrak: The Odisha Government has extended the internet shutdown in parts of Bhadrak district until 6 PM Friday, following a deadly clash over cattle smuggling that claimed the life of a person on June 12.
The suspension, initially imposed on June 12, covers Bhadrak, Tihidi, and Dhamnagar blocks, as well as Bhadrak Municipality and Dhamnagar Notified Area Council (NAC).
Tension gripped several areas of the district on Thursday after Santosh Parida (45) of Kasati village under Tihidi police limits, succumbed to the injuries in an attack by cattle smugglers on May 30.
Meanwhile, Bhadrak Collector Dilip Routrai stated the situation is “well under control” with no further incidents reported.
The district administration is on alert and keeping a close watch on the situation, he said.
The police have so far arrested 12 persons, including the prime accused, following raids in Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Jagatpur, Salepur, and Nischintakoili areas of Odisha, as per reports.
