Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed that Egyptian airspace remains safe and fully operational, with air traffic flowing normally according to the highest international safety standards.
The Ministry is continuously monitoring developments from its main operations center at Cairo International Airport, coordinating closely with civil aviation authorities in neighboring countries. This comes after some regional states announced temporary airspace closures due to the current situation.
In a statement released on Friday, the Ministry announced that Cairo International Airport and all other Egyptian airports are on maximum alert. This readiness is in anticipation of potentially receiving rerouted aircraft that might need to change their flight paths and make emergency landings due to regional developments. The Ministry emphasized its full preparedness to provide necessary technical and logistical support to any affected flights.
Cairo International Airport recently accommodated nine foreign airline aircraft that landed for refueling after altering their routes due to neighboring airspace closures. All planes departed swiftly after receiving the necessary technical and logistical support to continue their journeys safely.
In light of these developments, EgyptAir announced the cancellation of three flights bound for Baghdad, Amman, and Beirut until the respective airspaces in those countries reopen.
Sameh El-Hefny, the Minister of Civil Aviation, immediately visited the operations center at Cairo International Airport and EgyptAir’s Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC). He also inspected the Air Traffic Control Tower to closely monitor the situation and ensure the smooth flow of operations.
