Sweetgreen restaurant opens at Santa Clara Square ...Middle East

Sweetgreen, the customized salad and grain bowl purveyor launched by three new college grads in 2007, has expanded to Santa Clara.

The restaurant opened Tuesday at Santa Clara Square, the office, residential and retail complex located along Highway 101 and across the freeway from Levi’s Stadium. There’s seating for 30 diners indoors and 20 outside.

Sweetgreen specializes in from-scratch preparations. KBBQ Steak bowls and plates — with cucumber kimchi, spicy broccoli and apple kimchi sauce — are the newest menu offerings. Bestsellers include the Caramelized Steak and Miso Salmon plates and the Harvest and Crispy Rice bowls.

For every meal that was sold on opening day, Sweetgreen donated a meal to Hunger at Home, a Santa Clara County nonprofit.

This is the 13th Northern California restaurant for the chain.
