A POPULAR convenience store chain and Buc-ee’s rival has set out to expand its store footprint, opening seven new spots in a single state by the end of 2025.
As Casey’s General Stores rolls out the handful of stores, fans will be flocking to the new locations for all their convenience store needs – including a bite of the chain’s delicious pizza.

The chain, a major rival to Buc-ee’s, is amping up the competition by investing over $6.2 million into seven new stores in a single state in the South.
Texas has the most convenience stores out of any other state, at 16,416, per data from NACS, and Casey’s General Stores is adding to that number.
New locations in Abilene, Burnet, Tioga, and Texarkana are currently under construction, while the builds at sites in Gladewater and Athens are projected to begin in late June, per permits filed with the state.
Construction at the last new store, also situated in Abilene, is expected to start in August.
All of the new stores are projected to be completed by the end of this year and will measure roughly 4,200 square feet to 4,570 square feet, per the filings.
Casey’s General Stores first debuted in The Lone Star State in late 2023 when the company purchased the 22 stores that made up the Lone Star Food Stores chain.
The company then acquired 148 additional stores in Texas last july when it bought 198 spots from CEFCO Convenience Stores.
The deal, worth over $1.1 billion, raised Casey’s General Stores’ portfolio by roughly 7%.
“Our store growth strategy focuses on both building and acquiring new locations across our footprint, and that includes Texas,” a Casey’s spokesperson told CSP.
“We are actively permitting future, new-store builds and we will also continue to evaluate and plan for CEFCO store transitions, which we’ve said is a multi-year process. This is an exciting time at Casey’s and we look forward to serving more guests in Texas.”

The iconic chain even holds world records in The Lone Star State, with the largest convenience store in the world situated in New Braunfels and the longest car wash in Katy.

As Casey’s General Stores expands in Texas, hungry travelers will be forced to pick between the two chains, since Casey’s is also well-known for its food offerings – especially its pizza.
It ranks as one of the largest pizza chains in the country, serving up a variety of handmade pizzas in addition to other items like sandwiches, wings, breakfast items, and salads.
Customers can choose from classic toppings such as cheese, pepperoni, and sausage, or among a list of specialty pizzas like Taco Pizza and BBQ Brisket Pizza.

Popular YouTuber The Fat Files (@TheFatFiles) labeled the chain as “the most American pizza place in the world” in a video from late May.
He called Casey’s General Stores “the best pizza place you’ve never heard of,” arguing that the chain hid its delicious pizza offerings under the guise of being a convenience store.
The YouTuber admitted that while many people had likely never even heard of Casey’s General Stores because it only operated in a handful of states, the chain was highly “dominant” in the Midwest.
“They are the third biggest convenience store chain in the country behind 7-Eleven and Circle K,” he said.
The content creator also hyped up the hidden gem’s pizza.
“While they’re technically not considered a pizza place, they have better pizza than any other chain pizza place in the United States,” he claimed.
Casey’s General Stores is not the only chain with big expansion plans slated for this year.
Buc-ee’s likewise opened a new location this week – and fans warned that once you visit you can’t stop.
The chain has also set out to open 11 more outlets and will burst onto the scene in a new state.
