England continue their campaign to reach the 2026 World Cup this weekend with an away game against Andorra – but they are actually playing in Spain.
The Three Lions are facing the European minnows away from home and would normally play them in their country.
Thomas Tuchel has had to slightly adjust his pre-match routineHowever, that isn’t the case, and it has seen England change their plans.
Why are England playing Andorra in Spain?
Andorra’s national stadium is currently unavailable.
This is because it hosted the recent Games of the Small States of Europe.
UEFA confirmed ahead of the match being moved that there were no other stadiums in Andorra that could be used.
They have built a new ground, but it was not up to UEFA’s standards in time to be used.
Instead, this game is going to be held in Barcelona.
It is going to be at the RCDE Stadium, which hosts Espanyol and holds 40,000 people.
Given Andorra’s national stadium can’t quite host 3,500, this is a result for England fans.
England fans will be able to head over to Spain in big numbersAFPAs a result, expect to see Tuchel‘s men backed by thousands of fans.
And supporters can make it a double trip, given England’s Women played in this exact ground on Tuesday night – losing 2-1 to Spain.
It has also meant that Tuchel’s side have trained in Spain.
This has allowed the German to put his team through some warm-weather training.
