AMERICANS are being urged to check their bank accounts and mailboxes for a direct payment from the IRS of around $3,000.
It comes as the tax season comes and the IRS issues refunds to taxpayers who overpaid last year.

Those eligible for a refund will have filed their federal income tax returns between mid-April and May and will have paid back more than they owe.
The IRS has an online tool for taxpayers who are eager to find out when they can expect a payment to enter their bank account.
