The TikToker (@ithinkthatseesh) posted the video on how to stay cool this summer without breaking the bank.

Her viral social media post has already garnered 3.2 million views, 207,000 likes, and 66,000 who bookmarked the video to watch later.

“If your A/C is blowing out hot air, don’t call the mechanic, baby, because you are the mechanic,” she stated.

The social media star advised her followers to buy a can of B’laster R-134a Refrigerant Kit with Stop Leak and UV Dye for $34.99 at Auto Zone.

“Go home and use two fingers to pop the hood open—that bad boy up—and prop this up,” she instructs her fans.

She said drivers should search around the engine for a nozzle with an “L” on the cap, being mindful not to use the one labeled with an “H.”

The TikToker then shows how to use the recharger from the kit, pointing to the gauge on the top of the can.

“If you attach this nozzle and it does not say you’re low, you don’t need to do this,” she mentioned. “It might be another issue with your air conditioning.”

Then, she starts the car, showing off that her DIY repair worked flawlessly.

The video received several comments, nearly 2,000, with many warning the driver about the possible dangers of using this DIY method.

“Mechanic here! PLEASE double check which freon your car takes! Most cars 1993-2015 use R134A, but they switched to R1234YF For 17+,” one professional cautioned.

“Put in the right freon or you may be looking at a SEVERAL thousand dollar repair bill!” they added.

“AutoZone employee here. Please check a mechanic first. It could be other issues. If you add to much Freon you kill the system,” another echoed.

Multiple social media users said that while this method works temporarily, it’s better to find a long-term solution.

Tips to keep your car's AC running

To avoid burning through your car’s battery, drivers should turn off the AC before shutting off the engine. Cracking your windows open even a little bit on hot days can significantly reduce heat buildup inside your vehicle. Running your AC weekly will prevent moisture and mildew buildup in the cooling system. Regular maintenance will ensure that everything is running as it should be and catch problems early on.

“IF THE RECHARGE CAN runs out in a few days you might need to replace and fix the whole ac system,” said another.

Other drivers mentioned that those who use this DIY repair should take extra precautions.

“Also make sure the bottle of refrigerant is upside down as it fills so all the air goes to the top of the can!” one person wrote.

“Also check your cabin air filter!!!” exclaimed another.

“Also check your coolant!!” said a third.

“I thought my AC went out and I immediately called my dad. He and my brother told me to check the coolant and it was low. I filled it to the line and let it run, the cold air came back!” they added.
