Hamas to release 10 hostages and 18 bodies in response to US ceasefire proposal ...Middle East

The Palestinian group said in a statement that under the deal, it will release ten living hostages and 18 bodies in return for Israel’s release of a number of Palestinian prisoners.

The Hamas statement added: “This proposal aims to achieve a permanent ceasefire, a comprehensive withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and ensure the flow of aid to our people and our families in the Gaza Strip.”

Prior to Hamas’ response, Israel said Hamas must accept the hostage deal in Gaza or risk being “annihilated”.

The ceasefire talks come as the UN World Food Programme (WFP) said 77 trucks carrying aid, mostly flour, were stopped by hungry people in the Gaza strip who took the food before the trucks were able to reach their destination.

The WFP said the fear of starvation in Gaza is high after Israel’s month long blockade despite the food aid entering now.
