NO money is going out to millions of Americans next month thanks to a calendar quirk.
Still, those eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits can prepare their budgets for double payments later in the year.
GettySome Americans will be left without an SSI payment in June (stock image)[/caption]SSI specifically offers assistance to select Americans with limited income or resources who are either blind, disabled, or 65 and older.
Children with a qualifying disability can also get SSI, according to the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Eligible recipients must also not have monthly wages over $2,019.
According to the Monthly Statistical Snapshot from the SSA, over 7.4 million Americans received SSI checks last month.
A collective $57.5 billion in assistance was distributed.
Current average payouts per check are $967 for an individual and $1,450 for a couple.
It’s important to remember that amounts still vary depending on other factors.
MONEY MOVED
Supplemental Security benefits always go out on the first of every month, except for federal holidays and weekends.
In May, checks up to the $1,450 mark were sent out twice because of this stipulation.
The first payment was distributed on Thursday, May 1st.
Except, the cash that would typically be sent on June 1 had to go out on May 30, as June 1 falls on a Sunday in 2025.
That means there will be no SSI checks for June.
The next SSI distribution is sent out on Tuesday, July 1.
There will, however, be double payments in August, October, and December.
WHEN SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS ARE MADE
Social Security payments are issued on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of each month based on the recipient's birth
Second Wednesday: For individuals born between the 1st and 10th of the month Third Wednesday: For those born between the 11th and 20th Fourth Wednesday: For those born between the 21st and 31stThat’s because September 1 is Labor Day, November 1 falls on a Saturday, and January 1 is New Year’s Day and the start of 2026.
RIGHT ON TIME
For some retirees who get standard Social Security benefits, payments in June are being delivered earlier than they were in May.
It’s relatively common knowledge that Social Security is distributed to Americans on Wednesdays, depending on when their birth dates fall.
For example, those born on dates one through 10 will get their payments on the second Wednesday of every month.
Those born on the 11 through 20 get it on the third Wednesday, and for 21 through 31, it’s the fourth Wednesday.
For those who get it on the second Wednesday, payments were slightly delayed because of the calendar.
May 1 fell on a Thursday, meaning the first full week of the month didn’t start until May 5.
So the second Wednesday was technically May 14.
This time, in June, money will be sent out immediately, four days earlier on June 11, at least for Social Security recipients with birth dates from one to 10.
The following Social Security payout dates are June 18 and 25.
More information can be found through the official SSA Schedule of Social Security Benefit Payments.
The SSA is also making a massive change in 2025 that could affect 400,000 Americans daily.
A woman was also left stunned earlier this year at a $63,000 bill from Social Security.
