MARYSVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – A Marysville police officer was injured in a shootout Friday morning while responding to a domestic situation.
The incident began at 2:16 a.m. when Marysville police were called to the 900 block of White Oak Court regarding a domestic dispute. Police made contact with a man believed to be involved in the situation.
Police said that during this interaction the man pulled out a gun and fired shots at the officers from inside his vehicle. The officers returned fire, but the suspect fled the scene, striking a Marysville cruiser and several other vehicles in the process.
One person dead after Mifflin Township house fireUnion County Sheriff Department deputies and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol joined Marysville PD in the pursuit of the suspect, who was spotted on U.S. 33 and State Route 31. The chase continued westbound on U.S. 33 before the suspect's vehicle became disabled in the median of U.S. 33 near Northwest Parkway.
The man reportedly exited the vehicle armed with a gun and was shot multiple times by Union County deputies. The suspect was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a Columbus area hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
The Marysville police officer injured in the shooting was treated and released from a local hospital. No other officers were injured during the shootout.
According to The Ohio Attorney General’s Office, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called to assist the Marysville Division of Police to investigate an officer involved shooting.
U.S. 33 was the site of a heavy police presence and by 5 a.m. all lanes on U.S. 33 were briefly closed, then restricted in both directions after what the Ohio Department of Transportation called a police incident. Traffic was slowed as far back as the curve at State Route 31 and State Route 38 exit. All lanes were announced as open as of 9:15 a.m.
The shootout is the third incident this week involving a shootout with central Ohio law enforcement.

Daveonte Dixon, 21, is accused of shooting two officers after running from a traffic stop. Dixon, 21, is considered to be armed and dangerous and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
