During the summer, major excitement will build for the new season and here’s what we know about it…
When does the new Premier League season start?
The 2025/26 Premier League season will start on Saturday, August 16.
This means players will be given 83 days of rest from playing domestic football in between the end of the current campaign and the next.
That is the maximum amount of rest time available to be given.
But those featuring in the Club World Cup won’t have that full rest time, as they will be playing in that competition in between.
The 25/26 Premier League season is then scheduled to end on Sunday, May 24 2026, meaning it will last just over nine months.
Arsenal will look to mount another title challenge in 25/26Getty Leeds won the Championship title and are back in the big timeGettyAs usual, games on the final day will be played at the same time.
The end date of Sunday, May 24, ensures that the Premier League finishes in good time ahead of the 2026 World Cup next summer.
The Premier League have broken down the fixture schedule, explaining that the new season will consist of 33 weekends and five midweek rounds of matches.
The official release of top-flight fixtures will come on Wednesday, June 18 and is planned to happen at 9am UK time.
All 380 matches will be revealed at the same time as 20 clubs find out how their campaign will pan out.
The opening weekend match-ups, major derbies, and Christmas and New Year games will all be confirmed on that day.
