Texas A&M star Jace LaViolette suffered a significant hand injury in the Aggies’ win over Auburn on Thursday.
The Aggies upset Auburn 3-2 on Thursday afternoon in Hoover as they fought to extend their season beyond the SEC Tournament. But it appears they will have to do so without LaViolette in the lineup for the rest of the weekend, as coach Michael Earley announced that he suffered a broken left hand against the Tigers.
The injury happened after LaViolette was hit by a pitch in the 5th inning on Thursday.
If there’s any silver lining, Earley reportedly said there’s a possibility LaViolette could be used as a pinch-runner:

— Jacob Rudner (@JacobRudner) May 22, 2025This is devastating news for both Texas A&M and LaViolette. It’s been a nightmare season overall for the Aggies, who may end up missing the NCAA Tournament despite entering the year as one of the favorites to win the College World Series.
LaViolette is the program’s all-time leader in home runs. This season, he has a .430 on-base percentage and has hit a team-best 18 home runs. If A&M does advance to the college baseball NCAA Tournament, it’s possible he’ll be able to return to the lineup.
Texas A&M will face LSU in the quarterfinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
