The boos rained down for a Leafs team that was on their way to a seventh straight Game 7 loss.
After the second period, TNT NHL star Paul Bissonnette, a former hockey player and renowned Leafs fan, addressed the fans booing Auston Matthews and the Toronto squad.
“This is brutal. This is men vs boys right now. Completely unprepared,” Bissonnette said.
“I think they’ve lost every single 50-50 puck battle.
“Don’t know how else to describe it but pathetic performance…”
Bissonnette’s slamming of the Leafs comes after he performed a pregame studio routine.
He lit Leafs’ personalized candles and prayed for the team to pull out a win.
“Activate Mitch (Marners. Activate John Tavares. Activate Auston Matthews. Activate William Nylander,” Bisonnette said.
“Activate them all.”
Bissonnette then put one knee down and put his hands in the air.
The 40-year-old’s prayers wouldn’t be answered.
The Panthers saw Brad Marchand score in the latter stages of the game, which capped off his history-making effort.
Marchand became the first player to win five winner-take-all games against the same team.
Florida acquired the veteran from the Bruins at the trade deadline.
