As of late, I've had a complicated relationship with New York City. I absolutely love the city, and spent a lot of time exploring it in my 20s - I interned for a summer there in college, visited friends frequently when I lived in Washington DC, and now make trips from San Francisco for work.
But on my last few visits, something feels a bit rotten in the Big Apple. Maybe it's just that I've just turned 30 and can finally see all the ways the city can take a toll: the constant noise, the stress of getting around, the crowds. I've left feeling exhausted, ready to get back to the chill pace of my life out west.
When I came for a five-day trip in late April for work, though, spring was blooming, and my sense of the city was renewed. That was in large part thanks to getting to experience Manhattan like never before via a luxurious stay at Andaz 5th Avenue's Wellness Suite.
The wellness hotel does feel like a little slice of tranquility, even though you're steps away from the most-trafficked spots in Manhattan: Bryant Park, Times Square, Grand Central. From soaking in the suite's enormous tub (something I literally never do at home) to taking advantage of the fitness equipment stocked conveniently in the room, the stay left me feeling rejuvenated, healthy, and actually rested - if you can believe it.
I was able to experience the stay on behalf of the World of Hyatt Credit Card, which allows cardmembers to earn points on purchases and redeem for free nights or other travel experiences. Right now, World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers can earn up to 60,000 bonus points, and every year, cardmembers will receive a free night at qualifying Hyatt hotels and resorts.
If you have the opportunity to go all out for your next trip to New York City (or just have some points to savvily redeem), here's everything you need to know about why I'd recommend the Andaz 5th Avenue Wellness Suite.

Hotel amenities include a fitness center, wellness experiences, and an onsite restaurant, The Bar Downstairs and Kitchen. What I Like About Andaz 5th Avenue's Wellness Suite
Every time I've stayed in Midtown, the experience has stressed me out - the hotel rooms are often loud and cramped, and there's chaos immediately when you step out onto the street. That's why Andaz 5th Avenue felt like such a treat.
For one, it's located right across Bryant Park, which was beautifully green and lush during my stay in late April. Inside the hotel, too, is a little world all its own. It's not too busy and surprisingly quiet throughout the hotel; even though my room looked out onto 5th Avenue, it was peaceful and I could only hear minimal street noise.
And that brings me to the suite, which was bigger than my studio apartment at home, featuring a large living room, a huge bathroom with a separate soaking tub and rain shower, and a spacious bedroom with views of the Empire State Building. I loved coming back to the space after long days exploring the city, seeing friends, and heading to our downtown offices - I truly felt relieved, like I could let out a breath.
I also really appreciated the small touches throughout the suite, from the soaking bath salts located next to the tub to the lavender essential oils placed next to the bed. A Dyson hair dryer, top-quality mattress, and even living plant wall art were other details that I adored. Oh, and blackout curtains and a white noise machine next to the bed meant that I slept well every single night.
I did try the Lululemon Studio Mirror, which was new to me. I squeezed in a 20-minute Pilates class before meeting up with friends, which was convenient and fun, but I also appreciated how well-stocked the hotel's fitness center was. All the fitness-focused amenities inspired me to work out (nearly) every day of my trip, something that I never think to do amid all the hustle and bustle of NYC. But that consistency left me feeling more energized than I could've anticipated.
Is Andaz 5th Avenue's Wellness Suite Worth It?
If you're looking for a luxury stay in the heart of New York City - and you have the money to splurge - then I would say Andaz 5th Avenue's Wellness Suite is absolutely worth it. For me personally, shelling out the money for a spacious wellness suite like this one every time I came to New York would be a huge indulgence. But if I could stay here every time, I'd book trips back east without hesitation.
