A BELOVED burger chain that fans dub “10 times better than In-N-Out” is set to open 10 more locations this year.
The chain is coming to one US state in particular that locals have been waiting years for.

WCNC reports that Whataburger is officially coming to North Carolina, and the first new spot opens this month.
The chain plans to open 10 spots in the state, expanding its scope of Texas-style burgers, fries and milkshakes.
About half of the incoming 10 locations will be placed in the area of Charlotte.
Construction is underway, but fans don’t have long to wait for the first one to be finished.
The first Whataburger in North Carolina will open in Gastonia on May 29 at 9am.
You will be able to find it at 3415 East Franklin Boulevard.
Debbie Stroud, Whataburger president and chief executive officer, said: “For 75 years, Whataburger has grown from a single burger stand into a brand folks love across the country—but our heart has always stayed right where it belongs: in local communities just like Gastonia.
Other chains will be put up in places like Hickory, Indian Land and Mooresville.
Fans are already anticipating the arrivals, with some on social media going as far as to call Whataburger better than industry staple In-N-Out.
A move like this has been in the works for a while for Whataburger.
Zoning records as far back as 2022 show the initial plans to build on South Boulevard.
Whataburger has long been a staple only Texans have been able to enjoy, and has over 700 locations in the state alone.
South Carolina has already gotten a taste, too, with spots in Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg.
FOOD FRENZY
One Facebook foodie said on May 4: “Just tried Whataburger for the first time; they’re 10 times better than In-N-Out Burger.”
This controversial statement led to a heated debate in the comments of the post.
One person disagreed, claiming: “No way. Now you’re just trying to start arguments.”
On the other side of the fence, another person noted in agreement: “Now we can continue to be friends.”
