Video showing a missing bicyclist as she rode in the Santa Cruz area has been released while the search continues for her in the southern Sierra Nevada.

The Santa Cruz video, recorded on April 8, was released this week to “give the public a better look,” the Fresno County sheriff’s office said.
Slaton, 27, from Jeffersonville, Ga., was on a solo bicycle camping trip in California, her family said. In a press conference last week, her father said Slaton had finished a stint as a traveling dialysis technician in Oregon and was taking time off for the bike trip before starting medical school.
She was riding an electric bicycle and pulling a small, two-wheeled trailer — both seen in the video recorded in Santa Cruz by a driver who stopped to chat with her.
Slaton was known to have been camping April 20 near Huntington Lake, east of Shaver at 7,000 feet elevation, the sheriff’s office said. Her itinerary beyond that had her continuing higher in the Sierra, to Mono Hot Springs, but that road remains closed by snow.
Slaton’s parents reported her missing on April 21; before then, they said, she had been in contact with them every day.

Nothing related to Slaton was found, the sheriff’s team said, and as of Saturday, May 10, the effort was scaled back from an active search.
In releasing the Santa Cruz video on May 12, the sheriff’s office also called for the public to submit any images or video — including from home surveillance or dashboard cameras — from around April 24 in the Shaver Lake area.
Slaton is described as 5-foot-10 and 125 pounds; she had been wearing her hair in braids. Besides the bike and trailer, she had a gray and green tent, which has not been found.
