Mother's Day forecast: Strong and gusty onshore winds ...Middle East

News by : (KRON4) -

(KRON) -- Unsettled weather returns today and continues into early next week in the form of strong and gusty onshore winds, light rainfall, below normal temperatures, and a 10% chance of thunderstorms. The greatest impact is from strong and gusty onshore winds. The winds likely will be strongest in the highest terrain and gaps and passes such as the Altamont Pass and Pacheco Pass, where gusts of 50 mph are expected. Elsewhere, widespread gusts of 25-35 mph can be expected.

Cloud cover and rain chances increase this evening with the Bay Area precipitation likely by tomorrow afternoon. Higher terrain will receive locally higher amounts with wetting rains forecast for the North Bay hills and mountains as well as parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Temperature whiplash is on the menu today as temperatures will be 20 degrees cooler than they were yesterday, bottoming out to 10 degrees below normal tomorrow.

There is a low probability (10%) of thunderstorms on Monday, more likely in the hills and mountains. If a thunderstorm were to develop, threats would include lightning, small hail, and locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

Warming will be slow to return on Wednesday as low pressure exits to the east. There is quite a bit of uncertainty Thursday and beyond. The most probable outcomes suggest temperatures near to slightly below seasonal normals with nothing impactful on the  horizon.
