Friday horse racing tips
CHESTER2.35: Space legend 4/1 (2pts – NAP)3.05: East India Dock 7/2 (1pt) ASCOT1.50: Brave Mission 7/2 (1.5pts)Space Legend
Owners Wathnan Racing have acquired so many top horses and have largely been rewarded handsomely with some great winners.
Space Legend could be one of those too, who was acquired back in June 2024.
Six days after he placed second at Royal Ascot, albeit as much as six lengths behind Calandagan.
Ancient Wisdom then won by over five lengths when upped to 1m5f.
He was much closer to Los Angeles but still could only place fourth but should be able to improve based on that form.
It’s interesting to see him dropped back down to an extended 1m2f too which could be ideal.
He was gelded in October and can now surprise a few with progression.
East India Dock
Now for the Chester Cup over 2m2f a huge Heritage Handicap that should make for a great race.
East India Dock really appeals and has only just been beaten to the favourite spot with support for Leinster, who has Ryan Moore on board.
But this top hurdler looks to be at a great mark on the flat and clearly has potential back on the flat after 238 days away.
His last four runs have been over hurdles with three of those being graded contests, winning three and only just missing out on the Triumph placing a close third.
The added couple of furlongs to his handicap form is a positive too and could be right up there in this big field.
Brave Mission
Tipped this horse when entered into the Newmarket handicap last week over 1m.
But he was a surprise non-runner but it was down to a vet’s certificate so he’s worth backing again.
The Frankel colt has great form placing behind The Waco Kid on debut and has improved since then to suggest there’s more to come, especially for his seasonal debut.
He goes well on good to firm so this could be ideal.
