This year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) is Sunday, May 18.
This annual event, uniting motorcycle riders from all over the world, is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
The ride was founded in Sydney, Australia in 2012 by Mark Hawwa. The ride’s vintage theme was inspired by a photo of Don Draper, of the TV show “Mad Men,” astride a classic motorcycle and wearing his finest suit.

Since 2012, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has grown to more than 100,000 riders participating in over 100 countries.
This year, Ukiah will again be represented as one of the nearly 900 cities hosting rides throughout the world. David Bookout, host of the Ukiah DGR team, stated “Our community’s participation is truly remarkable. In the six years that the Ukiah team has participated in the DGR, it has raised over $66,000 for the DGR charity partner “Movember” Foundation. Last year, more than 50 local riders dressed their best and enjoyed riding throughout the Ukiah valley, raising funds and awareness for the DGR cause.
Those interested in donating or participating in the ride are invited to visit www.gentlemansride.com/rides for more information. Donors can select a rider to sponsor, or riders can sign up to participate.
