Former Denver Broncos legend and NFL Hall of Famer John Elway is reportedly at the center of a police investigation into an accident that left a friend and longtime business partner on life support.
According to Michael J. Babcock with TMZ Sports, Elway was allegedly driving a golf cart when his longtime agent, business partner and friend, Jeff Sperbeck, fell off the back of the golf cart and hit his head hard on the asphalt. The fall resulted in a traumatic brain injury for Sperbeck.
As of Wednesday, Babcock reports Sperbeck is on life support so that doctors can prepare to harvest his organs. TMZ reports Elway was the individual to call 911 at the time of the accident, and that Sperbeck was unconscious but breathing when paramedics arrived.
Babcock further reported that Elway, Sperbeck and their wives were on their way back from the Stagecoach Music Festival when the accident occurred. Police in Riverside County have since opened an investigation into the incident.
