Canelo was impressed by Eubank Jr and Benn’s classic encounterPrior to the showdown, it was declared that the winner could earn a shot at 168lbs unified champion Alvarez.
‘Next Gen’ seemed the most likely having held talks with the Mexican in the past.
But he may first need to beat Benn again, with ‘The Destroyer’ holding a clause to an immediate rematch.
The Mexican has stated he was watching the event and was impressed, with a future fight certainly on the table from his side.
He told Seconds Out: “Very good show, very good performance from both fighters, I enjoyed the fight.
“I’m focused 100 per cent on what I have in front right now for the future, but it’s always a possibility there. We’ll see in the future.”
Eubank Jr’s promoter Ben Shalom has indicated that would be the victor’s preference for his next fight.
He told talkSPORT on White & Jordan: “I’d like Eubank Jr to deal with Benn in more devastating fashion than he did.
“But the Canelo fight is the one for us. It’s the fight we want, it’s the one he always wanted and we think we can make it now.
“I spoke to Turki Alalshikh and it’s a fight that he wants. Can we get Canelo vs Chris Eubank Jr at Wembley?
Eubank Jr could face Canelo but may first need to rematch BennMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing“That is the dream but ultimately we may have to deal with Conor Benn again first.”
Alvarez is extremely busy right now in the sport, with his next two fights already signed and sealed in a deal with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh.
This weekend, he will look to become an undisputed champion for the second time, as he looks to snatch the IBF title from William Scull to complete the set.
And should he win, Alvarez will take on a career defining showdown with fellow pound-for-pound superstar Terence Crawford in September in Las Vegas.
As a result, any fight with Eubank Jr could not take place until 2026 and would need Alvarez to hold the belts.
Eubank Jr has expressed interest in meeting the 34-year-old in the past, but talks broke down last year due to the financial terms.
Canelo could be available in 2026 for a huge showdownGettyThe Briton himself has just been released from hospital and will likely take some time away from the sport before being able to fight again.
But WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman believes Eubank Jr is a viable next opponent for Alvarez after his two clashes.
He said: “This is what boxing is all about but remember Canelo has to fight William Scull first.
“If he is successful a fight with Crawford would be monumental. A classic combination.
“Both [Eubank Jr and Benn are ranked, have been highly ranked for many years and are top level in the sport.
“A fight for the championship is doable. Absolutely. Canelo has embarked on a new stage of his career.
“He will fight in Riyadh and is then scheduled to fight in Las Vegas and the winner this Saturday is going to be a major player in boxing worldwide, certainly.”
