She touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world," Caliente's family said in a statement shared on Instagram.
Dozens of Caliente's colleagues, friends and fans took to the comments section of the post to share their condolences.
"Love and light to family and friends. I love you Jiggly. Thank you for so many laughs," another Instagram user wrote.
Caliente's death comes just days after her family shared an important health update. She suffered a "severe infection" that required hospitalization — and the amputation of her right leg, according to the update, which was shared on Instagram on April 24. Her family said that her recovery would be "extensive."
Due to her health condition, Caliente was forced to cancel her appearance on RuPaul's Drag Race Philippines.
