Justin Bieber is mourning the death of his grandfather, Bruce Dale.
“Papa , I always took all ur money lol. I remember u specifically telling me, gramma gave u an allowance of 20 dollars for the WEEK!” Bieber, 31, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, April 26, alongside a sweet photo of the young “Baby” singer and his grandfather. In the snap, a teenage Bieber is smiling and holding Bruce’s face between his hands.
“I would always convince you to spend on snacks at the hockey game on Friday nights,” his caption continued. “Reluctantly you always gave it to me. Corn nuts, skittles, gum balls, chuck a puck, slush puppies , Shout out to the jr b referees Beatty, Fagon, Flanagan lmfao.”
Bruce was the father of Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette. According to an obituary shared by the W. J. Young Funeral Home, Bruce, died “peacefully” in hospice on Thursday, April 24. He was 80.

“For enduring all of my grandpas heckling for all of your horrible referee calls lmfao , my grandpa wasn’t shy in letting them know that they were being pieces of shits,” Bieber’s caption continued. “I can’t wait to see u again soon in heaven . Until then I know ur watching down probly still heckling Beatty or Fagon for missing that cross check call in the corner there lmfao.”

Justin’s wife, Hailey Bieber, shared his emotional post to her Instagram Story on Saturday. “Love you Grandpa Bruce,” she wrote.
While Bruce was supportive of Justin’s career, he opened up about struggling to understand his grandson’s newfound fame in an interview with CTV News in 2009.

“He’s always been energetic. You had to keep him going all the time. He had to be in sports all the time, or if not he was bouncing off the walls,” Bruce told the outlet at the time, adding, “I find it very hard. I used to know what he was doing all the time. Now you never know.”
News of Bruce’s death comes after Justin and Hailey, 28, enjoyed the second weekend of Coachella with the pop star’s 15-year-old brother Jaxon. Footage shared via X showed Justin dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” with an alleged blunt in his mouth while Hailey stood near Jaxon.
