Former Ole Miss defensive lineman Walter Nolen is embarking on his NFL journey, coming off the board with the 16th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Arizona Cardinals are the destination for Nolen, and he made his first appearance for the franchise on Friday.
During his introductory press conference, Nolen took a moment to recognize the individuals who helped him get to where he is today. He recognized his friends and family who were able to be in attendance while offering up his own round of applause in recognition of their hard work in his journey.
“First of all, I just want to shout out all these folks right here in the front row. Without them, shoot, I probably wouldn’t be here right now, so let’s get a round of applause for them real quick,” said Nolen.

— Arizona Cardinals (@AZCardinals) April 25, 2025Nolen began his collegiate journey at Texas A&M after playing his high school football in the state of Tennessee. He was the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class before spending 2 seasons with the Aggies.
After showing flashes at A&M, Nolen transferred to Ole Miss and was immediately a star for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. During the 2024 season, Nolen exploded with 48 total tackles and was a consensus All-American while posting 14 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and 3 pass breakups.
Now, Nolen is recognizing his roots and paying homage to his supporters as his NFL journey begins.
