The Cheaper Than Cheep concert film, originally recorded in June of 1974, is set to be released on May 9, 2025, and will be available in several formats—including a deluxe box set featuring a 2CD and 3LP version of the performance, along with a 12-page booklet showcasing rare photos and liner notes.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to welcome you to the world’s cheapest television special," Zappa, who died at the age of 52 in 1993, noted in a preview of the film. “Can you all turn around and look at each other so everybody who’s watching this can tell where we are and what the inside of this place really looks like. As you can see it’s cheaper than cheap.”
