The truck will come complete with a choice of two battery packs: a 57.2 kWh battery pack with rear-wheel drive and a target range of 150 miles and an 84.3 kWh battery pack with a target of 240 miles (386 km).
It also boasts a NACS charging port and will charge to 80 percent in under 30 minutes, peaking at 120 kW.
The wheels are modest 17-inch steelies, and the truck is no speed demon—zero to 60 mph (0–97 km/h) will take 8 seconds thanks to the 201 hp (150 kW), 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) motor, and it tops out at 90 mph (145 km/h).
Drivers can customise the motor according to their preference, with a number of colours and add-ons available to buyers.
“The definition of what’s affordable is broken,” Slate’s CEO, Chris Barman said.
He added that the “radical truck platform is so customisable that it can transform from a two-seat pick-up to a five-seat SUV.”
Tisha Johnson, head of design at Slate, added: “It looks like a shark that has definitely been in more than one brawl and clearly has come out ahead because it’s still swimming.”
MAJOR RECALLS
Last week, the NHTSA informed drivers that several major car companies were dealing with recalls that affected thousands of vehicles.
Ford, Stellantis, and Volkswagen were affected by the recalls, notifying drivers and car owners that their vehicles could benefit from extra safety measures.
The Ford recall potentially affected 123,611 vehicles, including the 2017-2018 Ford F-150, 2017-2018 Ford Expedition, and the 2017-2018 Lincoln Navigator.
Stellantis is the parent company of Chrysler which was also impacted by the NHTSA recalls last week.
The recalls mentioned the 2025-2025 Ram 1500 Pickup which may have been built with an incorrectly programmed instrument panel cluster or IPC, according to the report.
Due to the faulty programming, drivers were noticing an incorrect tire pressure indicator and inflating their tires beyond the recommended limit.
“Tires that are inflated to higher than maximum pressure ratings may increase the risk of a tire blowout, which may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning,” the report said.
If you are one of the 10,396 Ram 1500 Pickup owners, you will be notified about the recall around May 8, 2025.
Two other models, the 2023-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale and the 2023-2025 Dodge Hornet, were also recalled due to a defect involving the vehicle’s rearview image.
There were 48,494 people affected by this recall who were seeing a black screen instead of the review image.
NHTSA also recalled 5,637 Volkswagen 2025 ID. Buzz vehicles.
The agency claimed that the brake system warning light on the instrument panel display could have shown an incorrect symbol and color.
Owners of this Volkswagen model will be notified on June 6, 2025.
